Indigenous Language Preservation & Revival Presented by Rhiannon Schraff In-Person

Join us for a beginners presentation on indigenous language preservation and revival. Presenter Rhiannon Schraff will speak about her experience helping preserve a northern dialect of the Nahuatl language during a college course, as well as her friend's experience trying to learn his ancestor's language of Yucatec Maya. Learn about how both institutional and grassroots efforts contribute to the preservation of thousands of languages both here and everywhere else in the world; from dictionaries stored on small websites to school programs to oral histories, learn about these inventive ways that smaller languages, and the cultures they support, are enabled to survive and thrive.
